Bilkent Cyberpark PATENT OFFICE launched with the partnership of Ankara Patent Office on February 1st , 2010.


Bilkent Cyberpark Patent Office has been launched at Bilkent Cyberpark to support patent applications of Bilkent Cyberpark enterprises, Bilkent University academicians and students, and answer questions about intellectual property rights. A patent agent of Ankara Patent Office will be available at Bilkent Cyberpark Administration Office every Tuesday between 15:30-17:00 To take an appointment with a patent agent; please send an e-mail to Patent Office at least one day before the requested appointment date.

Bilkent Cyberpark participated at 2nd OECD World Forum


Bilkent Cybepark participated at the forum on Measuring and Fostering The Progress of Societies at İstanbul Lütfü Kırdar International Convention Center between 27-30 June 2007. Political issues about main economic, social and environmental problems and problems of the developed and developing countries were discussed.
1200 participants from 130 countries, the representatives of the private and public sector participated at this conference.


Research- Development Support Seminar


Tenant companies showed great interest to the R&D seminar that was given by Akdan Danişmanlık at Bilkent Cyberpark conferance hall. The importance of R&D and Tübitak incenties were the main issues of this seminar. Also the differences between the industry and SME R&D support mechanisms were clarified and important questions of the participants were answered.


2007 INNOVATIVE PROJECT COMPETITION


Bilkent Cyberpark, in cooperation with Bilkent University and TTGV organized “Innovative Project Competition” and the award ceremony was held on 26 April 2007. At the competition final, three projects won a prize. The first prize went to the winning team, REVOCO. The second prize was received by the B-Lock. The third prize was received by Easy-Q.

The first prize 4500 YTL went to the winning project, REVOCO. The second prize was 3000 YTL and the third prize was 1500 YTL.


Tübitak- European Union 7th Framework Programme Information Meeting


European Union Framework Programmes are executed by the European Union in order to increase the research and technology development capacity of the Union and to provide social and economic momentum. The first of these framework programmes was put into execution in 1984 and these programmes were provided for 4-5 years period.

One of the information meetings about these framework programmes was held in Bilkent Cyberpark Conference Hall on 1st December 2006. Not only Cyberpark companies, but also some external small and medium sized enterprises showed attention to this meeting. The participants were informed about the details of the programmes, the ways to participate and how to find consortium partners.


Intellectual Property Rights Seminar


Intellectual Property Rights is still not included within education programs at the level of basic science disciplines. However, Ankara Patent Bureau provides Intellectual Property Rights trainings to the various firms in order to close the knowledge gap. One of these trainings was held in Bilkent Cyberpark Conference Hall on 29 November 2006.

The lecturer, Kaan Dericioğlu from Ankara Patent Bureau, gave useful information to the firms about brand and patent issues. In the final part of the seminar the lecturer answered the questions of the participants, which were related to utility model certificate, protection of the intellectual property rights about software tools.


The Presentation Activity Of TTGV


Technology Development Foundation Of Turkey (TTGV) gave a presentation to Cyberpark tenants on November 21, 2006. At the meeting, which was held with high participation of the tenants at Cyberpark conference hall, information regarding current and new TTGV supports was given besides TTGV presentation activity.

At the last part of the event, questions of participants were answered, different ways of project supports were discussed. It was stated by TTGV that this kind of informative activities will continue.


Bilkent Cyberpark Attended to the Cooperation Conference Of the Defence Industries and KOBI


The conference called “The coordination between Defence Industry and KOBI’s” was held on November 13, 2006 by the TOBB University of Economics and Technology and KOSGEB. Many participants including some companies that take place in the Cyberpark, attended to the conference organized by KOSGEB and Undersecretariat for Defence Industries. Around 500 senior managers and specialists both from public and the private sector participated to the event.

Bilkent Cyberpark which is the largest technopark in Turkey attracted many firm’s interest. During the event, the relevant information was provided to the interested companies regarding our situation as well as our objectives.


KOSGEB, TTGV, BILKENT UNIVERSITY &BILKENT CYBERPARK INNOVATIVE PROJECT COMPETITION

Bilkent Cyberpark, in cooperation with KOSGEB, TTGV and Bilkent University organized “Innovative Project Competition” and the award ceremony was held on 16 May 2006. The first project is INO. It is a mp3 player and a composer that can compose music according to the person’s mood. Second project is TypeAir and the third project is VIP (Vehicle Identification Plus).

The first prize 7500$ went to the winning project, INO. The second prize is 5000$ and the third prize is 2500$. Moreover, awarded projects, if found eligible by Cyberpark, will have a chance to take space at the Cyberpark Incubation Center.


SALES-MARKETING AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION TRAINING


Nilufer Ariak from Akdan Danışmanlık, gave a free training on “Sales, Marketing and Customer Satisfaction” to Cyberpark companies on 3rd and 17th March 2006. During the seminar, topics such as efficient marketing techniques for technology-based startups, professionalism in marketing and magical formulas of marketing as well as success stories on these topics were covered.


CYBERPARK COMPANIES ENJOYED IN “NEW YEAR PARTY”


Cyberpark held a New Year Party on 28th December 2005 in order to bring the Cyberpark tenants together. The event, which around 300 tenants' personnel participated, was held in the Cyberplaza 8th floor. Companies had chance to meet eachother and welcomed the new year accompanied by coctail and live music.


BILKENT CYBERPARK ATTENDED TO THE IASP BEIJING CONFERENCE


XXII IASP World Conference on Science and Technology Parks Conference, organized by IASP has been held on September 19-21 2005 at Beijing, China. Academicians from various countries, public officials, and technopark representatives from many countries, as well as Cyberpark representatives attended to the conference. Participants discussed several topics on the roles of technoparks in global innovation, quality standards of technoparks and how to make technoparks perform more qualified and efficiently. Hanzade Avci Sariçiçek, the Institutional Development Manager of Cyberpark made a presentation on a session called "Feasibility Studies and Business Plans for New Science Park Projects".


Bilkent Cyberpark Attended to CEBIT 2005


Europe's largest information technology fair, CeBIT Bilisim Eurasia, was held between 6-11 September in Istanbul. The fair hosted 160.000 visitors from 57 different countries.

Bilkent Cyberpark took space at the Bilkent University's stand. Important contacts were made with companies that operates in R&D and software development fields. Information about Cyberpark and operational fields of tenant companies were presented to the visitors.

Training for Cyberpark Tenants About “KOSGEB Supports”



 

Cyberpark organised training for Cyberpark tenants about “KOSGEB Supports” which was held on 11st August 2005.



Hakki Can Pasabeyoglu from MTS gave a one day seminar and 40 people from Cyberpark tenants attended to seminar. During the seminar topics such as details of KOSGEB funds, appropriate financial supports for Cyberpark tenants and how Cyberpark tenants benefit from this supports were covered and questions of participants were answered.


A seminar on "EU General Product Safety Directive (2001/95/EC) / Product Liability Directive", organized by "Seminars on New, and Global Approaches" project team, was held at Cyberpark between 27-29 June 2005.



30 people from Cyberpark tenants, Turkish Standards Institute, Ankara Chamber of Industry, and other companies attended to the seminar given by AFAQ AFNOR's International Technical Cooperation Manager Mr. Christian WENDLING.

During the 3 day seminar, topics such as EU Conformity Assessment, CE Marking, EU directives based on the new approach & the global approach, product liability directive, general product safety directive, market surveillance, exporting to Europe and on the international market, standardization, which strategy for Turkish companies were covered and questions of participants were answered.


Cyberpark has attended to the "Regional Innovation and Incubation Capacity Building Workshop", which was held by the World Bank, InfoDev Incubator Initiative Program, between 9-11 June 2005, in Kiev.


The workshop was held by UBICA-ICT (Ukrainian Business Incubators and Innovation Centers Association) under the coordination of the World Bank's InfoDev Incubator Initiative Program and the focus was on "sharing experience and lessons learned in the projects of infoDev grantees and identifying regional commonality or differences." Cyberpark was among the 13 grantees selected from around 160 applications worldwide, and received an important grant for its Technology Incubator.

The role of government and the enabling environment, financing gaps and support policies, entrepreneurship and innovation, ICT and business development and successful business incubation practices were discussed during the Thematic Sessions. Cyberpark's managers were attanded the event, and they gave a presentation on the current status of Cyberpark Technology Incubator and lessons learned during the project implementation at the Thematic Session II, whose topic was "Development of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Support in Eastern Europe / Central Asia."


Akdan Consultancy provided free training for Incubator tenants



Third leg of free trainings for incubator tenants was held between 01-02 June 2005.

Nilufer Ariak from Akdan Consultancy gave a two day seminar on Sales and Marketing Techniques. During the seminar, topics such as efficient marketing techniques for technology-based startups, preparing marketing plan and market analysis, as well as success stories on these topics were covered.


Second "Cyberpark Innovative Project Competition" Award Ceremony held



Award ceremony of second Innovative Project Competition, which is organized by Bilkent Cyberpark and Bilkent University, was held on 12 May 2005 at the Mithat Coruh Audiotorium.

The first prize went to the winning project, Clipnoz. The second prize was received by the BasOde project. The third prize was received by VirKey project, and the Drowsy Driver Detection System project received the Honorable Mention.

One of the competition sponsors, Prometyum Consultancy checked the patentability status of projects, while Radio Bilkent was the press sponsor.


Series of Seminars on "Turkey heading European Union"

Bilkent Cyberpark participated to the event on "Turkey heading European Union", which was held on 9 May 2005 at Bilkent University by the Operational Research Club. Topics such as, What values will EU add to Turkey, What will happen to Business World, Employment Issues, and Competition that awaits Turkey were discussed. Bilkent Cyberpark's business development specialist, Cankiz Alper informed participants on the EU Funds and Entrepreneurship Supports.


Knowledge Economy Forum IV

Knowledge Economy Forum IV was held on 22-24 March 2005 by the World Bank and Turkish State Planning Organization in Istanbul. Around 300 top level managers and specialists from 26 European and Middle Eastern countries, and from organizations such as World Bank, participated to the event.

Bilkent Cyberpark's Institutional Development Manager Hanzade Saricicek, attended to the panel on "Technology Infrastructure" and provided information on national and international technoparks, development stages of these technoparks and their structures.


TTGV Venture Capital Fund's Informative Meeting



TTGV (Turkish Technology Development Foundation) established a venture capital fund to support start ups in their initial investment phases and informed Cyberpark Tenants on the details of this fund.


Many participants from tenant companies attended to the meeting which was held on 22 April 2005 at the Cyberplaza Conference Hall. This fund is mainly provided for investments in Information and Communication Technologies, Biotechnology and Healthcare, Advanced Microelectronics, and High-tech Materials.


Free Training for Incubator Tenants



First leg of free financial and administrative trainings to Cyberpark Technology Incubator tenants was held on 28-29 April 2005.

Presentations of Jeroen van Onna from Zernike Ltd. on International Marketing and Becoming Investment Ready arouse high interest on Incubator tenants. Second leg of free trainings followed the first lig on 01-02 June 2005. Bob Hodgson from Zernike Ltd., gave an informative seminar on Intellectual Property Rights Issues.


Cyberpark Tenants Meeting Cocktail


Cyberpark held a meeting cocktail on 7 January 2005 in order to bring the Cyberpark tenants together.

The event, which around 150 tenants' personnel participated, was held in the Cyberplaza restaurant.


A seminar, oriented for Cyberpark tenants on EU 6th Framework Programme, was held on December 12th, 2004 at the Bilkent Hotel.



During the seminar, which was given by Bilkent Cyberpark Institutional Development Manager, Hanzade SARICICEK, participants were informed on FP6, and tematic fields, relevant to tenant companies were highlighted.

Furhermore on seminar, present and upcoming project calls of FP6 were mentioned, where calls on IST tematic field were given high priority.

At the last section of the seminar, questions of participants were answered and different ways to find project partners were discussed.


Cyberpark, a grantee of infoDev, attended the Global Forum on Business Incubation in New Delhi which was held on October 14-19th 2004.



InfoDev (Information for Development Program), The Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry organized a Global Forum on Business Incubation in New Delhi on October 14-19th. This Global Forum, focused on 'Creating Conditions for Innovation' and consisted of two related parts, which together supported the launch of a global incubator network:

A Conference (October 14-16th) on the opportunities and challenges of promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and new business creation in developing countries, particularly in ways that harness the creative power of information and communication technologies (ICT) both for traditional and new products and services;

A planning and networking Workshop (October 18-19th) for business incubators, incubator associations, and others involved in promoting business incubation and innovation, particularly in developing countries.


This year NIBES annual meeting was hosted by Bilkent University. A cocktail was arranged by Bilkent Cyberpark for NIBES members.



Primary objective of NIBES (Network of International Business and Economic Schools) is to exchange students and academic faculty in between member organizations, and to develop conjoint research projects and programs, especially in subjects' of international business and economy. NIBES annual meeting was hosted by Bilkent University this year between September the 29th and October the 3rd.

Bilkent Cyberpark Corporate Development Manager Hanzade Sarýçiçek has done a presentation about Bilkent Cyberpark, before the cocktail that was arranged on September the 30th 2004. The presentation covered subjects such as; current state of Technology Development Areas in Turkey, and the interaction between Bilkent Cyberpark and Bilkent University.

During the cocktail which occurred after the presentation, NIBES members with various nationalities found chance to talk to each other as well as Cyberpark and Bilkent University authorities.



Cyberpark attended to the CeBIT Bilisim Eurasia 2004


CeBIT Bilisim Eurasia, Europe's largest information technology fair, was held between August 31 - September 5 in Istanbul. The fair hosted 168,950 visitors from 57 different countries.

Bilkent Cyberpark took space at the Bilkent University's stand. Important contacts were made with companies in R&D and software development sectors. Information on Cyberpark and tenant companies' capabilities were presented to the interested visitors.


2004 Technology Fair of the Future



Bilkent Cyberpark, Meteksan Sisten, Tepe Teknoloji and Mobilsoft participated to the "Technology Fair of the Future" which was held on 14-18 June 2004, Sao Paulo Brasil bu UNIDO, as the only group of companies from Turkey. 140 technology companies from 25 countries participated to the fair. Companies operating in the technologies fields such as power, IT, Biotech, Aerospace, Electronics, Nanotech, Food and Agricultural technologies etc. found a chance to present their technologies and contact with interested participants. Several panels focus on technology were also held.

Bilkent Cyberpark's managers, participated the panel "Future of Technoparks in Developing Countries", as a speaker and provided information on the structure of Technoparks in Turkey, their developments and current status, while sharing his own experiences and success stories with the audience.


Cyberpark Innovative Project Competition Award Ceremony held



The first of Bilkent Cyberpark and Bilkent University Innovative Project Competition which is open to Bilkent undergraduate students has been concluded by delivering the prizes to the students. The students received their awards at the Ceremony held at the Mithat Coruh Auditorium.

The first prize went to the winning team, Smart Shopping Systems. The second prize was received by the STOP - Save Time On Parking team. The third prize was received by TurkCeviri team, and the Cepvizyon team received the Honorable Mention.

This competition was held between Bilkent University, B.S. degree students. In the following years, it is planned to include students from other universities in this innovative project competition.



Cyberpark attended to the Technoparks Summit held at METU.


Cyberpark attended to the Technoparks Summit held at METU jointly by IEEE and TUBITAK.

Presentations on University-Technopark relations, Problems associated with legal issues, Industry-Technopark relations, NGOs and Technoparks were made during the summit, which started with the opening speech by Industry and Trade Minister Ali Coskun.

Furthermore, Institutional Development Manager of Cyberpark, Hanzade Avcý, made a presentation about "Bilkent Cyberpark". Event finished with a cocktail, which Cyberpark has sponsored.



Cyberpark attended to the "Innovation and Competitiveness Practitioners Workshop"

Cyberpark attended to the "Innovation and Competitiveness Practitioners Workshop", held cooperatively by The World Bank, and Turkish Technology Development Foundation (TTGV), on April 19-21 2004, Istanbul.

Cyberpark CEO, gave a presentation on "Science and Technology Parks / Innovation Centers".


Cyberpark attended to the "Third Knowledge Economy Forum".

Cyberpark CEO, attended to the "Third Knowledge Economy Forum" titled "Improving Competitiveness through a Knowledge-Based Economy" held cooperatively by The World Bank and Government of Hungary on March 23-26 2004, Budapest.


Bilkent Cyberpark and AKDAN Consultancy Company gave a presentation on "Importance of Entrepreneurship and Mechanisms of Entrepreneurship Incentives" at the Bilkent University's Career Fair on 11 March 2004.

In the first part of the presentation, Nilufer ARIAK from AKDAN Consultancy Company, provided information on the path that students should follow in building their own business.

In the second part, Hanzade AVCI, Institutional Development Manager of Bilkent Cyberpark, provided detailed information on the Incubation Center established within the Cyberpark with the aim of supporting entrepreneurship at the technology-dense areas. Questions of the students were answered at the end of the presentation.


Meeting on "Outsourcing and CeBIT"

On 27 February 2004, Bilkent Cyberpark organized a half-day activity to support the participating companies in business development and how to take place at international markets. Along with the Bilkent Cyberpark tenants, companies from other nearby technoparks (ODTU Technopolis, Hacettepe Technopolis) were also invited.

In the first part of the activity, Mr. Tom Atkinson, a consultant specilized in Outsourcing, informed participants about offering the abilities of Turkish companies to the companies in U.S.A. by outsourcing method.

In the second part of the meeting, Mr. Safak Alpay from HIFAS Hannover Fairs-Interpro Ulus. Fuarcilik A.S., made a presentation about supporting Turkish companies that produce technology, enlarging the market and providing different expansions that companies can use in developing business, in the scope of "Made in Turkey" thematic part that is organized in CeBIT Eurasia. He also mentioned about introducing new players of IT industry to world and meeting them with other international players. The questions of participants were answered at the end of both parts.


Informative meeting about the Ministry of Finance's circular regarding the "Technology Development Zones Law" has been held.

On 17 November 2003, Bilkent Cyberpark has held an informative meeting for the tenant companies at the Bilkent Hotel. Cyberpark's financial consultant provided information on the "Tax Incentives Enforced at Technology Development Zones - Corporate and Income Taxes Circular" Questions of Cyberpark tenans on the enforcement of tax incentives at the technology development zones were also answered.


Cyberpark Meeting Dinner

Representatives from the Cyberpark companies and academics from Bilkent University's Engineering and Science Faculties came together at the meeting dinner held at the Bilkent Hotel on September 12th, 2003. This was an important step for creating the synergy among the participating companies and between the companies and Bilkent University. Participating companies also found the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other, while negotiating for possible partnerships.


Cyberpark provides scholarship for Bilkent University's students

Bilkent Cyberpark is offering a scholarship named "High Technology and International Experience" to a limited number of students who managed to get a high score from Student Selection Examination (OSS) 2003, and chose to study at Bilkent University. The main objective of this scholarship program is to support the successful students for their development in being world-famous scientists or professionals. With this scholarship, Cyberpark arranges an international internship and meets the relevant costs. Moreover, within the scope of this scholarship students can attend some of the activities offered to the entrepreneurs in Cyberpark, like trainings and seminars, for free. These students are also involved in "Industrial Mentoring Program" which provides professional consultancy in their area of interest.


Cyberpark is a member of IASP

Cyberpark's objective is to be an esteemed brand in the international area and to provide world quality technopark services. For this reason, Cyberpark is taking place in international organisations and following the successful practices. Since July 1st 2003, Cyberpark's full membership to International Association of Science Parks (IASP) has been approved.


Cyberpark attended the IASP Lisboa Conference

XX IASP World Conference on Science and Technology Parks Conference, organized by IASP has been held on June 1-4 2003 at Lisboa, Portugal. Academicians from various countries, civil managers, and technopark representatives, as well as Cyberpark representatives took place in the conference. Participants discussed several topics on quality standards of technoparks and how to make technoparks perform more efficiently.


Cyberpark sponsored the FP6 Turkey Kickoff Meeting

Since the approval of FP6 (EU 6th Framework Programme), several meetings have been held in the Europe to present FP6 to relevant parties. In this scope, EU 6th Framework Programme information and Kickoff Meeting for Turkey has been held on 24-25 April 2003 at Lutfi Kirdar Convention and Exhibition Center, Istanbul. Cyberpark has taken place among the official sponsors of this program.


Cyberpark sponsored the "R&D in ICT" forum at the Bilisim'03 Summit.

On September 2-5, 2003, "R&D in ITC" forum, produced by Turkish Technology Development Foundation (TTGV) and sponsored by Bilkent Cyberpark, has been held at the Bilisim'03 Summit, Lutfi Kirdar Convention and Exhibition Center, Istanbul.


EU trainings started

Withing the scope of Cyberpark EU center, first training program has been started on September 2003, at the Cyberpark Life-long Education Center. The trainings were held by ITC (Innovative Technology Center) company covering the topics; EU in general, EU community programs, and EU pre-participation administrative and financial partnership program.
